Location

Sigri is one of the few unspoiled seaside villages of Lesvos, located on the western side of Lesvos, 90 km from the capital city of Mytilene.  Truly “at the end of the road,” Sigri is a 2-hour drive from the airport.  There are a number of beaches within walking distance of the village.  The petrified forest, fortress and its proximity to the Ipsilo monastery and Eressos offer visitors a variety of daily excursions. Sigri remains uncommercialised, and visitors will experience traditional Greek village life during their stay here.

For more information on Sigri, visit Matt Barrett’s travel guide to Sigri, or the local Sigri blog by  the kafe-owner Antonis.

In the words of our guests

  • We discovered Sigri in May 1985 and loved it so much we went back again that September , and we have visited every year since bringing our children and grandchildren who all love the place as much as we do. Coming round the hill and looking down on the village as we approach our destination, we know we will have a very warm welcome, especially from Cindy and her family whose
wonderfully comfortable villas and apartments, our whole family have stayed in time and again.  Far away from the world, Sigri offers relaxation, lovely beaches and walking round coastline roads, good food in welcoming tavernas —  there is no better place!

  • Sigri is for dreamseekers. Crystal clear water in remote beaches, combined with a cute little village. Not for partyanimals.  Sigrion Villas gave us a private house and pool for the kids, peace & tranquility, relaxed athmosphere, and a fantastic view, but most of all, a feeling of «home» far away. Thanks for a great stay, Camatsos family !

  • It is always wonderful to stay at Sigrion Villas. The views across the field to the sea are lovely and apart from the sheep bells ringing there is nothing to disturb the peace and quiet. At night we love to sit outside on the terrace with a glass or two of the local wine as we admire the stars and enjoy the silence. The Camatsos family are fantastic hosts and have always made us feel so welcome and we always return home feeling relaxed and re- charged!

  • We spent an excellent month in Sigri, staying in the Evangelia apartments. The owners of the property made us feel really welcome. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and perfectly located for the “swimming” beach (shallow water, shade, beautiful views – perfect for families) as well as the little centre of Sigri where you can find authentic Greek tavernas and a couple of low key bars – brilliant for a “getting away from it all” holiday. We hired bikes and cycled most days to the windsurf centre; it’s a great spot for all levels. We can’t wait to go back to Sigri!

  • Having never been to Lesvos before, I went to Sigri on a friend’s recommendation of a quaint, picturesque coastal village.  My room at Kastro was perfect: kitchen, balcony with sea view, right in the center of town-literally a step to tavernas, cafes, mini-markets, and the beaches. I’m a runner, and had amazing morning runs to the Petrified Forest (a must-see), or one of Sigri’s many beaches. I spent my days wind surfing (the center is a 10 minute walk from Kastro). The main beach is a leisurely 5 minute walk through town. Honestly, if I didn’t have to go back to work, I would have stayed another month. The locals are so hospitable, the landscape is absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere relaxing and Sigri provides all the amenities one would ever want for such a getaway. While I don’t often return to the same place twice, I already have my Sigri trip booked for next summer and will stay in Kastro again!

  • Just got back from a week at Sigrion Villas. They’re exactly as described, except that the picture doesn’t do them justice. They are a little bit of heaven!

  • Sigrion Villas were an excellent choice for our family’s surf vacation — neither we nor the children wanted to leave after two weeks there!
